GAS PLASMA CUTTING MACHINE

A Gas Plasma Cutting Machine (often simply called a plasma cutter) uses a mixture of gases (commonly nitrogen, argon, hydrogen, or a combination) along with electrical energy to create an extremely hot plasma jet that melts and cuts through metal.

While many plasma cutters today are “air plasma” (using compressed air), gas plasma systems are used when higher precision, thicker materials, or cleaner cuts are needed.

What is a Gas Plasma Cutting Machine?

It is a thermal cutting machine that uses:

  • A non-air gas or gas mixture as plasma-forming media

  • An electric arc to superheat the gas into a plasma state

  • The plasma arc then melts and blows away metal to make precise cuts
